A Nubian Giraffe

Their exceptional sight enables communication with other giraffes through long-distance signals.

Habitat loss through expanding agriculture, human-wildlife conflict, civil unrest, and poaching for their meat, pelts, and tails, are among the reasons for their staggering 40% population decline in the last three decades.

Nubian giraffes are social animals and often form loose associations known as 'journeys.'

They may gather in groups of up to 20 individuals, which can include members of different subspecies.
